Trip Information

Nopparat Thara Pier is a great little pier found to the west of Nopparat Thara Beach in Ao Nang. The pier is Ao Nang's main arrival point by boat. It's relatively small but the pier also acts as the hub for ferries traveling to and from the magnificent surrounding islands and peninsulas. The locals all know the pier well, so just say the name and the local taxis and bus drivers will get you there.

Nopparat Thara Beach is on the other side of a little river. Many Ao Nang citizens love to gather there to enjoy a picnic and a Thai game or two when the sun's not too hot. There's also some awesome little restaurants and food stalls just off the beach. If you have time, go take a look!

Ferry: Nopparat Thara Pier - Railay Bay

The pick-up and drop-off point in Railay is in East Railay Bay, which is just in front of Sunrise tropical resort. It's quite easy to find, and 30 minutes before any scheduled trip departure you'll see other travelers gathering at the same point. Railay is not an island but a peninsula of Krabi that you can only reach by boat due to the unbelievable limestone mountains and cliff faces in between.

Only the Thai-style longtail boats can bring you in. There's no actual pier, no concrete, just glorious white sand and turquoise sea for your feet to sink into as you embark and disembark the boats. Once on the island, paradise found! Enjoy the beach you're on or follow the cliffside footpath and signs to Phranang Bay for stunning beach moments!

Ferry: Railay Bay - Saladan Pier

Saladan Pier is located in the north of Koh Lanta in a small, authentic harbour town that's filled with quaint cafes and local souvenir shops. It's well worth a visit to one of the two wooden-stilted seafood restaurants that sit over the water facing Lanta Noi (little Lanta Island). Accommodation is good with some guesthouses and a couple of hotels nearby.

All of the passenger ferries dock here, arriving from and departing to the awesome surrounding islands. At the pier, often the ferries dock alongside each other so you may need to cross a boat to board your own. Never mind though, it's relatively easy and most of the time there's ferry boat staff to assist you with bags if you need.
