Tourists were celebrating yesterday, June 3rd, when the National Council for Peace and Order lifted the curfew that restricted the nightlife in Phuket, Samui and Pattaya. Ferry Travelers Increase Immediately
Ferry travelers began booking their inter-island trips in higher numbers almost imediately following the news, and for sure ferries to Phi Phi, Krabi and Koh Lanta should be fuller again, delivering wide-eyed travelers to pristine shores. The news in other regions is also set to get better and better after the ruling NCPO, who are believed to be gently relaxing their curfew measures in other popular Thailand tourist regions. Tourism Set to Rise
The previous days' events surrounding the political situation in Bangkok, a restriction on national and cable TV stations, and the fun-limiting curfews had reduced tourism numbers by around 20%, said the Tourism and Sports Ministry. Additionally, popular Phuket and Phi Phi nightspots were estimated to be losing between 5-10 million Thai Baht per night. That's a lot of empty clubs and bars. Clearly some good news was hoped for by all concerned. However, now the curfew is lifted, there is a lot of fresh enthusiasm for the islands. Great Seasonal Ferry Discounts
