Reduced Curfew Times Great News for Tourists

28 May 2014
After six long days of 10pm curfews, established by the Thai army ruling council, we are happy to inform you that from May 28th, the curfew in Thailand has been reduced to 12 midnight - 4am, which is a huge piece of good news for all travelers!

Just two days earlier on May 26th, the President of the Tourism Council of Thailand, Ms. Piyaman Tejapalbul, "...asked for General Prayuth Chan-ocha to consider lifting the curfew in some tourism areas, specifically Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi and Pattaya".

Thankfully, her request was at least partially granted all across Thailand, with the new 4 hour only curfew time. Naturally, all tourists traveling around Thailand will be breathing a huge sigh of relief, and the good news will once again encourage tourists to book ferry tickets from Phuket to Phi Phi, Phi Phi to Phuket, or indeed to other exciting destinations such as Koh Lanta, Krabi, Ao Nang or Railay Bay. It is very likely that local business owners will be innovatively working around the new regulations so that tourists can have as good a time as ever - just within different time periods.

For all party loving tourists, the good news is that many clubs, bars, and entertainment venues have made the clever move of starting their parties early. Weerawit Kurasombat, head of the Patong Entertainment Business Association in Phuket, stated; “Each venue has adjusted its hours to fit the curfew. Discotheques are now opening at about 4pm”. To back the decisions of such tourist-centered businesses, the Tourism Autority of Thailand expressed their confidence that any curfew reduction would not impair any national security concerns.

Just six days on from Thailand's latest 'coup d'etat, Phuket Ferry can confidently say that the mood in all tourist destinations from Phuket to Phi Phi and Krabi to Koh Lanta is great. All ferry and tour operators are in a good mood, and all are of course trying to send out the message that Thailand is OK, ferry and tour businesses are running as normal, and now is the time when tourists can come and take advantage of lower numbers of travelers.

We have it on good information that many ferry trips and tours are being offered at discounted prices so as to attract tourists to the shores of Phi Phi, Phuket, and other amazing places. Indeed, here on, you will be happy to see that we have many best-ever prices for ferry trips to all destinations.

We will continue to keep you updated on tourist-related events surrounding the current situation in Thailand. In the meantime, be sure to look around for great offers for fantastic trips to amazing places.

Blessings to Thailand and all the people within it,

PhuketFerry Travel Team
