Chiang Mai Information
Highlights
Doi Suthep
You haven’t been to Chiang Mai if you haven’t seen the view from Doi Suthep. This is a Thai saying that truly expresses the necessity of visiting this place. This mountain overlooks the northwest of the city. The mountain is breathtaking with dense forests hanging from the ends of the mountain. The main and sole reason people visit Doi Suthep is to see the captivating Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, which is one of the holiest sites in Thailand with a lot of cultural value.
Old City Temples
Full of deep and rich history engraved in every corner, Chiang Mai Old City is a beautiful cultural place that just roaming around its streets will make you feel a deeper connection to the Thai culture with its fascinating arts and traditions. It is quite a small place with compact walls so you won’t have to tire yourself while exploring its streets. The temples are the real attractions when people come to the old city including Wat Phan Tao and Wat Chedi Luang.
Night Bazaar
Located between Ping River and the city moat. The night bazaar is a great place for personal or souvenir shopping. The bazaar opens at 6 pm and it is especially known for its portrait paintings and handicrafts as well as it sells clothing, jewelry, electronic devices and more. You can also indulge in some delicious culinary treats and continue your shopping spree. It is a part you mustn’t miss in the true Chiang Mai experience.
Elephant Jungle Sanctuary
Chiang Mai's Elephant Jungle Sanctuary is one of the first places to carry on the ethical elephant attractions, which is a more pro-animal approach. Visitors are not allowed to ride on the backs of the elephants as it is bad for them instead you get to feed and play with them and sometimes you will get to bathe them. You can get a full-day or half-day tour depending on your preference.
