Known as the “Turtle Island”, Koh Tao is an important breeding ground for green turtles and hawksbill. The island’s economy is centered on tourism, especially scuba diving and snorkeling, as well as rock climbing, bouldering, and hiking. Tao island now offers some of the best scuba diving sites in all of Thailand’s Gulf. Divers also go there in search of bull sharks and whale sharks.
The choice of nightlife, restaurants, and the selection of hotels are constantly growing, as for the present time, there is something for every taste and budget on the island.
On Tao motorbikes and scooters is the main form of transportation. The roads are in a poor shape and not easy to cruise around but this is also the best way to discover all the cool places and hidden bays in and around the island so enjoy the ride and be careful while driving!
