The island sits inside the protected Trang National Marine Park, and is well known for having some of the best and prettiest beaches in all of Thailand. Koh Kradan represents a careful balance between natural beauty and conservation, making it an ideal destination for those seeking both relaxation and environmental responsibility.
The island attracts visitors from around the world who want to experience pristine coastal scenery without the crowds found on more developed islands. What to See and Do on Koh Kradan
Beaches and Snorkeling
Koh Kradan is a first class snorkeling area, with a coral reef running approximately 1 kilometer in length that is home to a myriad of species of fish. The reef sits close to shore, making it accessible for snorkelers of various experience levels. The clear waters and healthy coral ecosystem make underwater exploration one of the main draws for visitors to the island.
The main beach on the east side offers calm, turquoise waters and soft sand ideal for swimming and sunbathing. This is where most accommodation and facilities are located, providing convenient access to the water. The shallow depths and protected bay create safe conditions for families and those new to snorkeling.
Hiking and Scenic Views
Koh Kradan is also full of green rolling hills that can be explored on small trails. A small ten minute hike from the main beach on the east side will take you past the Paradise Lost Resort to some rocky coves on the west side for some of the most stunning sunsets you will ever see. The island's interior remains largely undeveloped, with natural vegetation covering the hillsides and creating a sense of exploration and discovery.
These hikes require minimal fitness and are perfect for visitors wanting to venture beyond the beach without committing to a full day of trekking. The trails connect different parts of the island and reward walkers with viewpoints and secluded spots where you can enjoy the island's natural landscape away from the main resort areas.
Getting to Koh Kradan
Ferry Access to Koh Kradan
Koh Kradan is accessed by ferry from the mainland. The main departure point is Trang Province, which serves as the gateway to the Trang Islands. Most ferries operate from ports in or near Trang town, with the journey to Koh Kradan taking place across the Andaman Sea to reach the island's pier.
Ferry schedules vary seasonally, as weather conditions in the Andaman Sea affect operations during the monsoon period. The island is typically most accessible during the dry season from November to April, when services run regularly. During the wet season, services may be reduced or suspended, so timing your visit around these periods helps ensure reliable transport connections.
Transport to Trang Province
Before boarding a ferry to Koh Kradan, most visitors must first reach Trang town or nearby ports. Trang is well connected to major cities across southern Thailand by bus, minivan, and private transfer services. Transport options to Trang include buses, minivans, and private transfers from destinations like Phuket, Hat Yai, and other regional hubs.
Once in Trang, ferry tickets to Koh Kradan can be booked for the onward journey to the island. Planning your overall journey means arranging both your transport to Trang and your ferry booking to Koh Kradan. Consider booking these in advance during peak season to secure your preferred departure times and ensure smooth connections between your overland and sea transport.
Multi-Destination Travel from Trang
Many visitors to Koh Kradan combine their island visit with time on nearby islands or in Trang itself. The province offers connections to other popular destinations, and transport between the Trang Islands and the wider Andaman coast is straightforward to arrange in advance.
Popular Routes to and from Koh Kradan
We currently list 59 routes bookable routes serving Koh Kradan, connecting the island with Ao Nang, Koh Bulon, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, Koh Mook, Koh Ngai and several other destinations along the Andaman coast.
Some of the most searched connections include:
- Koh Kradan to Koh Mook — the closest neighbour in the Trang Islands group.
- Koh Kradan to Koh Lanta — a common northbound hop towards Krabi Province.
- Koh Kradan to Koh Lipe — the main southbound link towards Satun and the Tarutao area.
- Koh Kradan to Ao Nang — for travellers continuing to Krabi's mainland beaches.
- Koh Kradan to Koh Bulon, with the reverse leg available as Koh Bulon to Koh Kradan.
Because Koh Kradan sits roughly midway between the Krabi and Satun island chains, it works well as a stop on a longer island-hopping itinerary rather than only as a there-and-back trip.
Operators Serving Koh Kradan
Services to and from the island are run by companies including Bundhaya Speed Boat, Lanta Petpailin and Satun Pakbara Speed Boat Club, alongside other several operators services shown on each route page.
Operators differ in their departure points, timings and onboard arrangements, so it is worth comparing the options for your date before booking. Current departure times, journey durations and vehicle types are shown live in the search results, since they change with the season.
Arriving on Koh Kradan
Koh Kradan has no deep-water pier of the kind found on larger islands. On many services, passengers transfer to a longtail boat for the final stretch to the beach, and you may step into shallow water on arrival. Pack accordingly: waterproof bags for electronics and shoes you don't mind getting wet make the landing much easier.
Luggage allowances and transfer arrangements are set by each operator, so check the conditions shown at checkout for your chosen service.
Practical Travel Tips
- Book ahead in high season. Seats on Trang Islands services fill quickly between November and April.
- Allow buffer time for connections. If you are catching a flight or an onward bus the same day, leave a generous margin — sea crossings depend on weather.
- Bring cash. Facilities on the island are limited compared with larger destinations, so plan for that before you travel.
- Check the return leg early. Departures from small islands are less frequent than from mainland ports.
- Respect the marine park. Koh Kradan's reef is part of a protected area — avoid touching or standing on coral while snorkelling.

Frequently asked questions
What are the tourist seasons ?
Phuket
Phuket really just has two seasons, which are known as "high season" and "low season" (or "green season"). During the low season months (May–September), boat numbers are reduced. During the high season (October–April), boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options.
Koh Samui
There are three distinct weather seasons on the tropical island of Koh Samui: the dry season (December until February), the hot season (March until August) and the rainy season (September until November).
How do I unlock my account now?
Wait, and try again. Every lock lifts on its own — a minute the first time, and never more than an hour however many attempts have failed. There is nothing to click and nobody to contact.
If you have forgotten your password, do not keep guessing: each wrong attempt makes the next wait longer. Use Forgot password instead. Resetting your password gets you straight back in.
What is the difference between a locked and a blocked account?
Locked is automatic and temporary. It happens after repeated failed sign-in attempts and it lifts by itself — within a minute in most cases.
Blocked is a decision made by our team, and it does not lift on its own. If your account is blocked you will need to contact us; waiting will not change it, and neither will resetting your password.
If you are not sure which applies to you, get in touch and we will tell you.
How long am I locked out for?
The first lock is one minute. If sign-in keeps failing after that, each further lock lasts longer:
- 1st lock — 1 minute
- 2nd lock — 5 minutes
- 3rd lock — 15 minutes
- 4th lock and after — 1 hour
An hour is the longest you will ever be locked out. You get five attempts before the first lock, and as soon as you sign in successfully everything resets — the next time you mistype, you start again at one minute.
My account locked but I never tried to sign in
Then someone else was trying to sign in as you, and the lock did its job — it stopped them.
Your account is safe: a lock means the attempts failed. Nobody got in. You do not have to do anything, and the lock will lift on its own.
We would still recommend two things:
- Change your password, especially if you use the same one on another website.
- Add an authenticator app in your account security settings, so a password alone is never enough to sign in as you.
If you get these repeatedly, contact us and we will look into it.
Why is my account locked?
We lock an account for a short time after several failed sign-in attempts in a row. It is an automatic safety measure: it stops someone else guessing your password, and it happens whether or not the person typing was you.
You do not need to contact us. The lock lifts on its own — see How long am I locked out for?
