Located at the center of Krabi province, a small resort town called Ao Nang. Only 30 minutes are enough to stroll around the town.
Krabi is known for its limestone formations which offer a great rock climbing experiences, and just like Krabi and it’s nearby islands, Ao Nang is also popular with rock climbing and the backpackers usually travel to Ao Nang to climb the limestone rocks above the sea.
Scuba diving is another amazing activity in Ao Nang that you don’t want to miss. From basic to instructor level, this town offers a variety of diving courses and the dive sites are uncrowded and are easy to access compared to the diving sites around Koh Phi Phi.
On 2004, Ao Nang was hit hard by a tsunami and the town suffered serious damage especially on the coastal areas, but most of the damage was fixed really quickly with the help of international and local communities, and a memorial was built in Nopparat Thara to honor the thousands of foreigners and locals who lost their lives.
The nearest airport to the town is Krabi international airport and it’s around 40 minutes ride away by car.

Best time to visit
If you’re looking for the ideal weather to enjoy the beauty of this town then you should visit Ao Nang from November to April. During the rainy season (May to October), the accommodation prices decrease and the town becomes less crowded as the climate tends to be rainy and the rainfall lasts for hours.
